Real Wedding - Avi & Jenn Daniel

At Kristine King Events we have the pleasure of not only planning weddings but also attending them! Our "Real Wedding" feature is of our dearest friends, Avi & Jenn Daniel, who we had the pleasure of attending their winter wonderland wedding at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC.

Their wedding was exquisite down to every detail from the custom cream and rose gold invitations with lace overlay, the floral arrangements that adorned the altar and the chic lanterns that were accompanied by lush white flowers on the reception tables. The black tie affair was nothing short of spectacluar.

The ceremony space was intimate and warm with white orchid trees and white roses by Atlas Floral. During cocktail hour the guests mingled in a stunning floor to ceiling room overlooking Columbus Circle where we enjoyed a five station cocktail hour catered by Rave Caterers. A few highlights of the cocktail hour were the sushi and sashimi bar (I am still dreaming about the crispy rice with tuna tartar), a meat carving station, charcuterie station and Mexican taco station.

After cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, dinner was served. We were seated in the landmark Mandarin Oriental Grand Ballroom where we enjoyed a mixed salad with mango and avocado followed by a beef brisket with braided asparagus and truffle mashed potatoes. All perfectly prepared by the chefs at Rave Caterers.

The tables were adorned by a combination of white floral arrangements and crystal lamps of varying heights with sheer semi-transparent lampshades. The lighting was a combination of purple, blue and white hues with varying textures. The tables were set with tasteful and contemporary china and silverware. The transparent lamps were echoed by the crystal-clear chairs, which beautifully reflected the lighting in the room. All of this created an atmosphere of a sophisticate and cosmopolitan city wedding.

In between courses we flipped off our heals and danced the night away to The Hank Lane Band. They were sensational playing the classics to the latest hits. The monogrammed flip flops, glow sticks and glow rings were the perfect touch and lit up the dance floor. Guests also enjoyed a variety of mini desserts such as assorted sorbet pops, cookie & milk cups and cake pops. The monogramed fire ball shots were a huge hit too!

At 2am the party came to an end and wow did we have a great time. The bride and groom gave the guests monogrammed water bottles and handmade marshmallows with a sweet quote to send us on our way. It was such a lovely evening celebrating the beautiful couple!

We’re so excited for you all to see the stunning photos that were captured by the always amazing Fred Marcus Photography.

A note from the bride: "Ever since I was a little girl at play dates with friends and cousins we always enacted our weddings. Teddy bears dolls and all were involved. When my time came to plan my own wedding I realized though I was over the moon I truly had no idea where to start. Having a wedding planner was the lifeline that made each and every stressor go away. I was able to enjoy the process instead of stress the process.

My wedding was truly a magical evening and I am so thankful to have had a planner put all my wishes into a fairytale day. As the doors opened to my ceremony, I walked by the orchestra and headed toward a gorgeous chuppah of the most stunning floral arrangement I truly felt like a princess. From start to finish the planner made sure every bit of us was highlighted to perfection."

Cheers to a happy and healthy life together, Avi & Jenn!

Top wedding trends for 2016!

At Kristine King Events we are prepping for an exciting new year of weddings and are happy to share the top inspirations and trends! We have fun, chic and trendy new ideas for décor, flowers, cakes & more!

1. Metallic color palettes

We expect to see metallics pop up in 2016. Depending on how you bring them into your wedding ceremony or reception, they can be quite elegant and whimsical. The gold can really pop during a black-tie wedding especially as the sun sets and the candlelight mood can really make these colors shine. If you’re having a rustic barn wedding you can incorporate copper lanterns or adorn your tables with metallic table clothes or runners.

Rose gold is also a hot trend. We will see rose gold on everything from rose/blush colored icing on wedding cakes to rose-hued signature cocktails. Napkin rings, picture frames and table linens will also adorn the same look and feel.

2. Incorporating special memories & travel

Couples love to bring elements of their hometown to their wedding or special memories from their travel abroad. It is really sweet to bring elements of places that hold special memories no matter where the actual wedding is being held. A couple who was engaged in Paris may bring vintage street lamps to light the reception, use French passports as their table numbers or even have Edith Piaf songs playing by their string quartet during cocktail hour. The goal is to have your guests feel like they're in Paris - or wherever location is close to your heart - and enjoy these small elements of a place that has brought you these fond memories.

3. Non floral centerpieces

Another hot new trend for 2016 is non-floral centerpieces for your reception. A few suggestions are potted trees, ferns, succulents, lavender sprigs and decorative leaves (such as magnolia or begonia). Cherry blossom tree branches look stunning as centerpieces. If you’re looking for a more budget friendly idea that looks just as stunning we suggest adorning bare branches with sparkly jewels or crepe-paper flowers.

4. Sparkly invitations with bold fonts

For those girly girls out there, 2016 is your year! We expect invitations that sparkle, shimmer and shine with warm tones like rose gold and copper to trend this year. The trend is showing up on stamped and foil-pressed lettering and in shimmery papers. We are also seeing multiple fonts and sizes on save-the-dates and invitations.

5. Lots of lighting

Ambience is key when setting a romantic mood at your wedding. Most couples strive to create an intimate and warm environment for their guests. You can achieve this goal effortlessly by incorporating wedding lighting. Event designers say they’ll be using more pendant lights with bare “Edison” bulbs, chandeliers (both vintage and modern) and candelabras to cast a soft glow in the new year.

6. Naked cakes

“Naked” cakes, which are partially frosted or unfrosted and decorated with berries or fresh flowers, are a hot trend for 2016. We expect to see these cakes at both formal affairs and relaxed receptions.

7. Memories are in the films!

Having your wedding captured on film is a MUST for 2016 brides. Couples love sharing highlights of their wedding with family and friends and what better way than to share a 1-3 minute highlight reel days after the big day! The highlights reel is something the videographers turn around soon after the celebration, while everything’s still fresh in guests’ minds. The fully edited film comes roughly a month or two later. We suggest going with Lavon Films to capture these priceless memories.
